Event Viewer shows nothing

Crazy stuff going on. I try to view event viewer on any
of my 2000 servers and am getting into application log,
but when I go into the system log, nothing shows up, then
back to app log- now nothing there. Am not able to view
events at all after that.

Is this a new virus or did I miss a patch somewhere?

We had the same problem this morning too. I was able to
choose 'save as' and save it to another EVT file. Then
open event viewer again, choose 'OPEN FILE' and open the
file. Then press F5 and the events showed up.
