Event Viewer Issue

P

Pete

Hi

I have 2 W2k DC's in a single AD domain. When I open event
viewer (local) on either server, there are NO entries
listed in any of the logs. I have the view set at show all
records and no filters. I have also verified that the
event viewer service is started. ANY help is greatly
appreciated. Please feel free to email me at

The temporary fix;
You might try changing the file properties to "Overwrite as needed"

Then; Control Panel|Administrative Tools|Services|Event Log Service|General,
set the "Startup Type:" to "Disabled" restart the pc, then delete (or move)
the corrupt *.evt file(s) from %windir%\system32\config then set the Event
Log Service "Startup Type:" back to "Automatic", restart for effect.

The more permanent fix;

I have seen AV programs cause this. Try disabling any AV products and stop
any unnecessary services and test. Something likely has some sort of 'hold'
on it.

Have you tried to force an error to see if it records?
Example force a backup to fail or even a live update on
you av should log.

I've already installed the SP4 on my windows 2000 server, but the event viewer problem is still there.
