Event Viewer Error

Upon going to Computer Management>System Tools>Event Viewer, clicking on
either of the Application, Security or System logs generates an "Unable to
complete the operation on "Application/Security/System". The interface is
unknown." error.

Alternatively, using Start>Run>eventvwr.msc yields the same results.

Double checking under Services, the "Event Log" service is missing, so
there's really no option to check if it's disabled or not.

Could someone please help troubleshoot? Thank you so much!

Does this key exist?
HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Eventlog

The three subfolders Application, Security, System, exist within
HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Eventlog. Eventlog itself has no key
entries besides the (Default-Reg_sz-value not set).
