What is your scanner make and model?

This seems to be a relatively new error and there are no reports using
Google.

I would suggest you uninstall and reinstall the software through Start,
Control Panel, Add / Remove Programs. If that fails to resolve the
problem you need to check with Xerox for updated drivers.

Hope this helps.

I didn't know that. Thank you.

Well your behaviour towards the other person was childish. Posts need to
be helpful. There's enough horrible things going on without gratuitous
insults.

A Gerry thing..

My goodness, I don't know how "Sonny" got into this with his garbage, but to
answer your ?, I've had this scanner connected and use it for a long time.
It is a Visioneer, One Touch, 9420 USB and in working condiiton. Then you
think I should uninstall and reinstall it? (Incidentally, I'm 81 and can use
all the help from intelligent, mature people on this site that I can get!)
Thanks, Gerry for your sincere interest.

YOU got me into it with your first post. The one with nothing but a
copy-paste of an error report.

Kinda like walking into the doctor's office, handing him an
electro-cardiogram printout and telling him nothing.
In your analogy, the doctor (even an Intern) then has diagnostic evidence to then diagnose. Likewise, without being verbose with my symptoms, I have presented diagnostic evidence from Microsoft Event Viewer and asking how to resolve the problem--get it, Sonny? Disregard any help from you! Find another place to play your little games! Your're wasting our time!

It would seem that your scanner is still being sold. I am making no
progress on the meaning of the error.

Turn your scanner upside down to check the Part Number located on the
black label on the bottom of your scanner. Which of these two is it?

Part Number 85-0240-x00
Part Number 85-0257-x00

Are there any yellow question marks in Device Manager? Right click on
the My Computer icon on your Desktop and select Properties,
Hardware,Device Manager. If yes what is the Device Error code?

Have you tried disconnecting the cable from the USB port, and trying
another USB port? If that does not work remove the cable from the USB
port. Restart the computer and then reconnect the cable to the USB port.
Does that make any difference?
