event id 7022 "Remote Storage File Service Service hung on Startin

On Windows 2000 Advanced Server with AD, WINS, DHCP, DNS, and running as 2nd
bdc, am getting event id 7022 "Remote Storage File Service Service hung on
Starting" That in turn causes the Remote Storage Engine Service to fail.
Can't find anything on this error. The RIS server was working perfectly and
then suddenly today we have this error. Have run the usual virus scans etc.
The Service that hangs can be started manually with no error, so my guess is
that it is a timing issue. There were some updates last week, don't know if
anything changed. Anyone have an idea where to zero in on this one?

Going to answer my own question after some more research. We never installed
Remote Storage, we did install RIS. Why suddenly Remote Storage installed
itself I cannot say. There is no tape on this computer, that is why it was
erroring out. Last week right before this error began I opened Windows Backup
and made a new ERD. I am only guessing that somehow there was a wizard
internally that sensed backup opening as an invitation to turn on Remote
Storage. Strange. No one else has the domain PW. Have to see if maybe there
is some new exploit that trys to use Remote Storage.
