I recently uninstalled an external serial ATA harddrive and its PCI
controller. The Vendor was CMS. I returned the hardware under warranty.
It was new but obviously dysfunctional. My system is AOK except for the
event message below and a Symantic WinDoctor message that I have a missing
DLL file: MSCOREE.DLL

A Google search on mscoree.dll says I can ignore it unless I want to install
a 20 meg Microsoft NET file system.

The MS Knowledge base lists one reference to the message below but does not
indicate what file is missing that needs to be replaced.

Can anyone suggest a fix?

Looks like you didn't uninstall the driver from Device Manager

Excellent tip! You are probably correct & I suspected as much.
Comment: The MS W2K online 'Help' mentions that uninstalling a device from
device mgr. does not uninstall the device driver. One would think that a
Windows user, after all these years, would be given a disclosure, a notice,
a tip - somewhere among the many uninstall protocols, to attend to such a
detail safely. Now I will have to go back to the vendor & probably download
a driver I do not need in order to remember its name & search for it on my
system.

Much easier to look in Device Manager for errors and or non-starting
devices.

Except I believe it is the controller driver.

:
| Could also go into Services manager and disable the CMS service.
