Event ID 7000 "system cannot find file specified"

B

Blithe

This event viewer message has been recording for months, ever since I
uninstalled CMS software for an external harddrive backup. I cannot find a
service to delete to stop the message, nor any suggestion on any forum, FAQ,
and have not had any response from CMS to identify the offending file.

Please - any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Hi Blithe,
The reason for these errors might be that the drivers for the cms software
have been removed but the corresponding registry keys are not and the system
tries to start the driver and does not find it. You need to make some changes
to the registry, so, you need to back up your registry.
Go to Hkey_Local_Machine\system\currentcontrolset\services and locate the
cms portio service. Right click on i and export the registry to make sure ou
have a backup. Now change the start value for this service to 4 and reboot
the machine.
