Event 1091 after deploying service pack 2

Hello,

I am getting the following error in the application event log when I install
service pack 2 for WXP on the computers of my compnay:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Userenv
Event ID:1091

Description: The Group Policy client-side extension IP Security failed to
log RSOP (Resultant Set of Policy) data. Please look for any errors reported
earlier by that extension.

The deployement of service pack 2 for Windows XP is done through a Windows
2000 SUS server and group policy of a Windows 2000 domain.

The Microsoft KB article 823608 indicates this problem on Windows server
2003 systems and informs that a hotfix is available. But in our case, the
problem appears in Windows XP systems with SP2.

Any help would be appreaciated

Hi Kelly,

Thank you very much for your help. I have already checked KB article
Q823608. It mentions that the event will appear with IPSec group policies and
Windows 2003 servers. However, I get the event on Windows XP systems and no
IPSec group policy has been configured. And event 1091 only appears since I
applied service pack 2 for Windows XP. Seems to be a non documented bug.
Something tricky. Maybe I can try to install the hotfix, even if it only
concerns Windows server 2003.

Thank you and Kind Regards

Hey Ezechiel,

I've also ran into the same problem with Internet Explorer Branding.
From what I've found I only get these errors when the Application Data
folder is redirected in a GPO. If I turn that off everything seems to
be OK, and I haven't been able to find a fix for it yet.

Hi Brett,

Thank you for your comment. It thought I was the only one with this problem.
Actually, WE do redirect our "Application Data" folder with GPO to a folder
on a server and cannot disable it.

It is a very useful information. I will try to contact Microsoft to check
with them and post any information here.

Thank you

problem. It works in our environement. This hotfix has not been released to
the public.
