Error when installing AdobeReader 8.0.1

Hi there: I get this internal error message when I try to install Adobe
Reader and it quits.
Internal Error 2753. Updater. api_NON_OPT

I run Windows XP. Adobe was working fine but I removed the program by
mistake. NOw when I try to download it and install it again, it won't work
for me.

Any ideas?

Un-install all previous installations of Reader. Check your registry to see
if all references to Adobe Reader have been removed. Download a fresh Adobe
Reader installation file from Adobe and try to install it again.
