Darren

I am getting th error "Video Device Failed to Initialize Fullscreen Mode"
Error when trying to run DOS apps in XP.

It happens with everything DOS.

Even bringing up a Command Prompt and doing Alt+Enter gives me the error.

Thanks

Darren,

Please right click your DOS program and click on Properties > Compatibility.

Try running the DOS program with Win95/98/2000/NT compatiblity. (whichever
and test one by one if any of it fixes the problem).

Hope this helps.

I have tried this and all other setting changes I can think of.
I have even extracted the DOS Autoexec.nt, Config.nt and Command.com files
from the CD.
This is a new thing, it wasn't always a problem.

I don't want to jump right on blaming it on some update, but....

BTW: XP SP1

Darren,

Are those a 16-bit DOS program?

Please try this:
1.Open the properties of the shortcut to the MS-DOS-based program.
2.On the General tab, click to clear the Read-only check box if it is
selected.
3.Click the Screen tab, click Window, and then click OK.

I have tried all of this.
Like I said, even trying to full screen a command prompt gives this error.
Shouldn't be...no?
