Error trying to install SP2 on XP Pro

Hello!

I have twice downloaded the full install of SP2 and tried to install it on a
clean XP Pro installation. It keeps popping an error stating "Unable to read
from or write to the database" with a 4373 event ID in Event Viewer.

This system is XP Pro, SP1a, 512MB RAM, 3.5GB free space, installed few days
ago, behind a firewall, no antivirus software installed yet. It is a test
station, so it hasn't been on the Internet except to get the SP.

Any ideas why this is happening?

Thanks for the help!

I'm not sure. Do you have admin privileges? It sounds
like an inadequate permission thing on one of the directories.

I'm not sure; I would disconnect from any network/internet
and disable/uninstall the firewall ... you need to be an admin.
Something to try until you get better advice.

Try doing a hard disk scan, to fix any possible errors, make sure u
really do have the final version of the SP2, and also, that no virus
on comp.
