Error message

WHEN i TRY TO START THE COMPUTER I GET THE FOLLOWING ERROR MESSAGE.
"C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\SHDOCVW.dll IS NOT A VALID WIDOWS IMAGE. PLEASE CHECK
AGAINST INSTALLATION DISK." I DID OT GET SUCH A DISK WHEN I BOUGHT THE
COMPUTER.
WHAT CAN I DO IT WILL NOT BOOT.

Please turn off the Caps Lock. Messages all in caps is the equivant of
shouting.

What is your computer make and model? Did you buy a new or second hand
computer?

Have you tried Last Known Good Configuration?

What anti-virus and what anti-spyware programmes are installed. Run both
in safe mode.
