I installed Microsoft Office Prof Ed 2003 last night and when I open outlook
I recieve the following error message:

"The required virus definitions data files are missing or they are corrupted.

Unable to initialize the scanning engine

Please re-install product."

What does this mean and should I be concened. I currently have AVG 7.0,
window washer and spy sweeper if that is any use.

Many Thanks
Claire

This is not an error from Outlook but from your virusscanner.

Best option is to update AVG to download latest definition data files. If
this fails to work un-install AVG, re-install then update virus definitions,
then run full virus scan on the machine to make sure you don't have a virus.
If you want to stop the message from appearing you need to go into AVG go to
control centre, click on email scanner, Properties button then configure.
Take the tick out of scan incoming mail/sent etc etc. Then you won't get
the error message appearing, but really you need to take a step back and
sort the anti-virus problem out and not use Outlook until you sort it out to
be on the safe side.

Cheers
