error message, please help

I'm trying to open a ppt created by powerpoint 2003 on a mac. I'm using
windows XP service pack 2 and running powerpoint 2000. The file extension is
..ppt.

the error message is PowerPoint cannot open the file represented by...

The file is not password protected and opens perfectly fine on the creators
Mac, but not on my PC.

Please help

One thing that I can think of is that sometimes files get compressed (my
department chair used to email Word documents from his Mac, and they
would always come out as compressed files on our end, even though they
ended in .doc). Try downloading Stuffit Expander
(http://www.stuffit.com/) and running it through there. It might convert
it from a compressed .ppt file to a real .ppt file. It's worth a shot.
