error message on shutdown of XP

B

Bob Hackler

I get this message when XP shuts down;
The application failed to intialize because the window
station is shutting down.

It displays dwwin.exe - DLL initialization failed. It
appears that this dll is in Microsoft error reporting.
What do I have to do to eliminate this message.

Hi Bob,

I ran across a couple instances of this type of problem in the past. In
those cases, there was some anti-virus software that had to be manually
removed. I saw references to the error you report with both McAfee and
Norton. If you are using either of those products you might check with the
manufacturer for help removing it completely.

Hello Bob,

This error has come up before at shutdown and it has bene related to
Anti-Virus software. If you uninstall your AV software (tempoaraily) and
reboot does the issue occur? If not reinstall the software and look for
updates.
