error message at boot up - password value

Had a hard drive shut down problem. When starting up got
error messsage indicating missing corrupt "system" file.
Copied old system file from backup hard drive. Now system
starts to boot, starts in middle of windows load and gives
error message;
"When trying to update a password, this return inidcates
the value provided as current password is not valid.

I did not have a password on this computer. That does
this mean?
