Error message after BCM 2007 Installation

I recently purchased a stand alone version of Outlook 2007 w/BCM and proceed
to install the program. I thought it strange that during the install the
program didn't ask for the product key but continued and it appeared that
everything installed correctly until I tried to run the program and then got
this message:

"Cannot start MS Office Oultook. Cannot initialize MS Office shared
utilities. Restart your computer or reinstall MS Office Outlook."

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, restarting etc. to no avail. I
have a new Sony Vaio with Vista Home Premium and had previously Outlook 2003
installed which I uninstalled before loading the Outlook 2007 BCM.

This is really frustrating. Any answers?

It does not show Outlook BCM under installed programs as I have uninstalled
and reinstalled it a number of times. The issue with Outlook first occurred
after I had been running my 2003 Outlook and decided that I needed to have MS
Office instead of the Open Office I was using and installed MS Office 2000 on
my computer that had an older version of Outlook, I'm assuming Outlook 2000
and since that time I have not been able to get Outlook 2003 or the new
Outlook 2007 w/BCM I recently purchased. I have uninstalled the Office 2000.

Search to include hidden for outlook.exe, what does it report & what path?

It seems likely that the uninstall of one of your earlier versions of iether
Office or outlook hasnt completed and as such Outlook 2007 will not install
if it detects an earlier version of outlook

Found it. Here is the path C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office12.
I'm assuming all I need to do is delete this file and try installing the
program again. Correct?

No you dont delete it, Office 12 is office 2007

I assume you used the uninstall procedures on your previous Office
installations?
In the Add/Remove diologue uninstall any/all MS Office installations found,
and reboot
Then see this KB, and follow it
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928218/en-us

(Installing Office versions out of sequence, ie you install earliest first,
causes problems, particularly as Office2k installs to a none version
specific folder, niether can you install outlook 2007 if an earlier version
exists)
