Error Installing XP and Office 2003 on a new Hard Drive

Had to install new HD due to disk errors.
(1) Used Emergency Recovery CDs to load OS (XP) and original software to drive.
(2) Restored backup DVDs fro about 2 weeks ago, loading all files backed up.
(3) Re-loaded Emergency Recovery CDs to load OS (XP) and software while
retaining all other files (e.g. data)
(4) Re-installed Office 2003 Standard (Not originally on PC). Tried 3 ways (a)
repair (b) re-install (c) un-install and re-install.
All installed successfullly. However all produced an application error when you
tried to run an app (e.g. Word, Outlook).
Message: "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0150002)"
Other apps such as BellSouth DSL, AOL and IE work fiine.

Answer was to re-install XP SP1a, however since Windows Update didn't work, MS
Tech said to use download at
http://www.microsoft.com/WindowsXP/pro/downloads/servicepacks/sp1/expresso.asp
which is supposed to be for non-IE users. It worked>
