Error in upgrade of Windows XP

I upgraded my 98 system to XP yesterday. I'm having one
major problem. The PC restarts automatically. The first
couple of times...i did get an error message. But
sometimes, there is no error message or warning. I looked
in the System error log file and found the following info:

Source: Service Control Manager
Type: Error
Event ID: 7023
Computer: OEMCOMPUTER
IPSEC Services service terminated with following error:
Authentication service is unknown

________

Here is another error description i found:

Event ID: 7031
The Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service terminated
unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time. The following
corrective action will be taken in 60000 milliseconds:
Reboot machine.

And then the computer restarts automatically.

_______

And here's the last insightful log:

Source: USER32
Type: Information
Event ID: 1074
User: NT Authority\System
Description: Process winlogon.exe has initiated the
restart of OEMCOMPUTER for the following reason: No title
for this reason could be found.
Minor reason: 0xff
Shutdown type: reboot
Comment: Windows must now restart because the Remote
Procedure Call (RPC) service terminated unexpectedly.

Please help. I would really appreciate it.

Thank you.

Ali

In order to troubleshoot the problem, you need to disable the auto
re-boot action. Go to Control Panel>System>click the Advanced
tab>under startup & recovery, click Settings>under the system
failure item, uncheck Automatically Restart. When the computer
fails, it will give you the appropriate failure message.

You have something that is crashing - and the system's 'automatically
restart' is cutting in. Turn this off: in Control Panel - System -
Advanced, click Settings in the Startup and Recovery section. There
uncheck 'automatically restart'. You can also usefully change the
'write debugging information' to (none) unless you are actively needing
a dump for debugging something, or to 'minidump' if you are getting
errors that you wish to report on to Microsoft. You may now get a Blue
screen failure instead, but at least will get some guidance as to what
is happening
