Error in System Restore

P

peter lamborn

System restore has disappeared from the System Properties
menu and when I try to do a system restore from
Accessories>System Tools>System Restore, I get this
message: The procedure entry point
RemoteAssistancePrepareSystemRestore could not be located
in the dynamic link library WINSTA.dll.

What does this mean and how can I repair it?

run sfc /scannow from the command or run prompt with your xp cd inserted, or
copy the missing dll file from your cd.

run chkdsk /f to fix disk errors

Hi Peter,

1. Insert the Windows XP CD
2. Click [Start] [Run]
3. Type the following command and press Enter
"rundll32.exe advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection C:\Windows\Inf\sr.inf"
