Error downloading themes for PowerPoint 2007

A

Adonis Paxon

For example:
I click on the design ribbon tab, and select more themes, and then click
"more themes on the microsoft office online..."
I get to the one I like for example: Bubbles
Theme downloads...
I then click on the microsoft button, select "new", search for 'bubbles'
find the theme, and then I click download button. and get the following
error, and wish I had a screenshot to put on here:

[template download error X]
The template could not be downloaded. To fix tihs problem do the following
* Make sure your computer is connected to the internet (Duh*)
* Make sure your browser is not on offline mode
* Try to download the template again later

.... Right now I am downloading the:
2007 microsoft office suit service pack 1 (SP1)

Wish me luck, lets hope it resolves the issue. I am wondering if I will
return to post either way* ? good luck and if you have any suggestions, I
would welcome them with open eyes.

Hi,

Are you using internet explorer? Microsoft-centric programs refuse to
download templates in browsers like FireFox.

PowerPoint 2007
Checked*
I was using Firefox, but reverted for the purpose of troubleshooting this to
Internet explorer. If you have office, 2007, can you please try it, as the
update did not work, and if I am the only one vs. being one of many who share
the same challenge, then I'll just feel that much better. I am also
experiencing, not being able to see the themes under Office Button, MS Oline
: Featured* there is no information, and it says it cannot connect to the
server. This is all super interesting.

Hi,

It's not just a case of reverting.

IE must be your default browser. If you look online and download one in IE,
it will still get confused how to open it in PowerPoint as there is no
default bridge between IE and PowerPoint. Great, isn't it?

Are you using internet explorer? Microsoft-centric
Why?

MoMo (Maureen)

The real answer is probably the Active X controls that do the downloading.
It's much easier to support your own software like IE, especially if you are
pushing that onto the market place. IMHO!

I'm glad to hear you found the template, Adonis. I know that it's sometimes
very difficult to get them to download and open the way you'd expect. And,
once you do, you want to save the template, or a file with the template, so
you can actually find it again later!

"Bubbles" did download and open as I expected it to. If you run into the
issue again, you may want to empty your Temporary Internet Files folder (I
assume Firefox uses this folder, too?). I think sometimes having that too
full causes problems with downloads from Office Online.
