Is this a standard IBM compatible machine you are trying to install on?
Reason being, you can get this error when installing Windows 2000 on DEC
Alpha machines under certain circumstances. Other things I have seen that
can cause this error are bad RAM or bad L1 cache on the processor. So, I
would recommend swapping the memory and\or disabling L1 caching in the BIOS
and see if setup completes.

And another cause for this error is over-clocking, either intentionally
or unintentionally with a few of the new motherboards using aggressive
DRAM latency clock settings.
