I just want to say thank you for your tips
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;[LN];830086
This support site resolved my problem even though it was for sp1, I followed
the instructions rebooted went back to updates low and behold it found 38
updates, which I installed, rebooted again, went to updates this time it
found one update sp1, so I decided not to download (as I have sp 2
installed,) went back to my registry corrected the value data back to the
original number, re booted again, went to updates and there was the windows
updates
http://v5.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/v5consumer/default.aspx?ln=en-us and
worked perfectly, it has been a couple of days since I did the repair, and
all is working really well. thank you very much
