error and shutdown with internet explorer

Hello
Each time I go to a web site and an "about blank" popup
message pops up, I get an error message and then internet
explorer shuts down. Does anyone have a clue what could
be causing this? I don't have the problem when an actual
advertisement pops up - just if the popup message
reads "about blank". Because of this error message, there
are many pages on the web that I cannot even look at. It
is frustrating to say the least.
I hope that I have explained this problem in a way that
can be understood. Since I don't understand it myself, I
don't know if I have conveyed it correctly. Any help you
provide will be greatly appreciated

Rule out parasites.

Get AdAware and Spybot and run them both. Keep them up to date.
