error 711

I recently had to repair my windows XP installation, which
went fine. Now however, I cannot use AOL to connect
online, yes the connection eventually does work but I
cannot browse the internet or even add a dial up
connection from within IE 6 or from the control panel
because I get "error 711: could not load the remote access
connection manager." How do I resolve this?

If you have SP1 installed this may not be your problem. To find out, go to
a command prompt and type "net start rasman". If you get error 5: Access
Denied then you need to reinstall SP1 as you described. If you get another
error, post back with the error code.

To reinstall SP 1, can I simply unistall via the
add/remove panel then redownload?
