Error 550 Relaying denied

I get this nearly every time I try to send information
using MS Outlook email. Any suggestions?

You probably need to turn on authentication to your outgoing server. You
can do so on the "Outgoing Server" tab for your mail account.

I am having similar random errors when sending from Outlook 2002. I have seen 550 SMTP relay denied, authenticate via POP/IMAP first, 550 not local host genericcompany.com, not a gateway, and 553 sorry, that domain isn't in my list of allowed rcpthosts.

I understand from various things I've read, that this may be an issue with authentication...I don't have an Outgoing Server tab as noted below...maybe I'm looking in the wrong place, but I can't find it.
Running Outlook 2002 on WinNT 4.0 and Win2000 computers, with a Win2003 Server running Exchange 2003.
What am I missing?
This only started in the last few days.
p.s. I installed Symantec Mail Security on the Exchange server on Sunday...could that be related?

But are you getting these messages when sending Internet messages or when
sending through Exchange? The Outgoing Server tab in Outlook 2002 is under
Tools | E-mail Accounts | View or change existing e-mail accounts | Next |
[select the account and click Change] | More Settings.

We send through Exchange Server...on More Settings we have: General,
Advanced, Connection, and Remote Mail.

Unfortunately I'm not really an Exchange expert, so I'm not sure how you'd
handle the authentication issue when Exchange handles your Internet mail.
If you don't get any other responses in this thread, you may want to repost
your question and give a brief review of what we've already gone through in
this thread. Good luck.

I've been getting 553 relaying denied when I try to send e-mail
through Outlook 2003 using a qwest.net isdn line. I also hav
Symantek. It appears that when the message is scanned by Symantek i
gets delivered. Otherwise, it gets denied. Can anyone help wit
this? Messages are seemingly received with no problem
