Error 1500: another installation...

I am getting this message now when trying to re-install Office 2000 to add
some components.
I have no idea what "inprogress" installation Windows is referring to.

I have rebooted, and also restored to an earlier time on this Home XP with
SP2 version.
Can anyone let me know how to fix this or point me to a KB with this
specific symptom?

I would go to the Office Update site and let it update your Office Install to at least SR-1a or higher.
