epson printer hell !!!

I have an Epson photo 830 printer which seems to have clogged print
heads for the blues as i get a constant streaking when printing, i
have gone through a whole cartridge using the cleaning cycle with no
luck, i also tried removing the cartridge and applying printer flush
and isopropyl alcohol to the print heads plus actually filling a
cartridge with flush and running cleaning cycles, but still the problem
pursists. Is it possible to remove the printhead housing fron the
printer so it can be cleaned or left to soak in a cleaning
solution, please can anyone help as i can't afford a new printer.

Sounds more like your head is dying rather than it just being blocked.

I recently had an Epson 1200 given to me, this printer had not been turned
on for four years after the owner died. It only took six cleaning cycles
for all heads to be cleaned.

That is exactly why I like HP inkjet printers...change the ink cartridge,
you now have new heads!

One day an epson is going to block on the wrong person... And the
epson staff are going to find THEY need new heads.

But aren't HP inkjet cartridges more money than Epson and Canon (for similar
size cartridges)?.

Yep, but I think what people are grinning about with HP is, they just
keep refilling until it blocks or print quality declines - they throw
cartridge away - not the printer.

Yea, but change your computer and you're S.O.L. I have the HP Photosmart
printer. I got a new computer (HP) with Win XP. HP doesn't have any drivers
for it. They told me to just buy a new printer. You can bet it won't be an
HP.

You could not even pay be you use a HP They are utter Crap and do not have
long life inks as they must be Water based.

Epson rules as it does not have to use Water based Inks..

And, since each new cartridge also comes with a new print head it
requires a new colour profile. For accurate colour matching each new HP
cartridge has to be re-calibrated and new profiles produced. Fine if
you are only interested in producing coloured charts, you can get bye
with a stock average profile for all HP carts, but less than useless if
you are producing matched colour photographic prints.

If you are that worried about refilling Epsons, invest in a continuous
feed system and use the correct ink for it. One cartridge, no blockages
and nothing is thrown away.

my Epson C80 sat for a few months and now it will not print anything,
after more than 6 cleaning cycles. I'm assuming it's gone to EPH

Every time I go to Costco, I stand by the printers and talk people out
of buying HP. The way HP screwed us with the "Microsoft furnishes
the XP drivers" is a crime (or should be). I didn't even give my
working HP printer away (junked it while it was still working), so
that HP could not sell ink to my kids.

You pay for and throw away new heads w/ each cartridge change. You may
have a new head but you lose your ass w/ each refill.

I removed my Print head for a 740 as that would no longer clean, use a Spray
on Spray and Wipe a Ammonia based Surface cleaner, a thing layer in a metal
flat bottom bowl, with just a few MM (3/32") of the liquid, left it in for a
hour and move and moved the print head up and down a little now and again,
also did this again with some fresh cleaner, again for a hour, then did the
same with warm water, twice for a hour, then dried the print head off with
some tissues, refitted the print head fitted 2 new cartridges, did a few
cleaning cycles, the printer is like new again and still working many months
later..

Their is a Webb site that shows you how to do it for this model..

Also cleaned the rubber parking station of ink, dust & gum etc..

I never soaked the Full head only the face part of it..
