Hi,
I have an Epson stylus Photo 830U. The heads keep getting clogged and it is
nearly impossible to clean them. At the moment it is the black one. It takes
about half of the cartridge to get printing properly again.
Is there any way of cleaning the heads manually or any other advice. How can
I clean just the black?
Cheers
Lenny
The first and simple course is to apply a small amount of Windolene(Windex
USA) to the parking pads on the right of the printer. The 820/30 series seem
to suffer from an incorrect head parking action so it is wise to check the
position and maybe give it a slight nudge to the right.
Windolene which is a mild ammonia content window cleaner acts as a solvent
for dye based inks.
If you have a determined blockage the next best thing to try is to fill used
cartridges with Windolene and print some windy pages: you will notice the
printour becomes faint proving that the ammonia mix has pernetrated the
heads. That way you are cleaning form within. For the uninitiated
disassembly of Epson printheads is a dangerous act often leading to
disaster. You may equally need a chip resetter to reuse the Windolene filled
cartridges.
