Entry point error

I went to System Restore I got this error

rstrui.exe - Entry not foun

The procedure entry point RemoteAssistancePrepareSystemRestore could not be located in the dynamic link library WINSTA.dl

I thought disabling System Restore would work. I don't even have a "System Restore" tab in system properties???

What should I do

Rstrui.exe is what loads your Restore points . Read this & see if you have
it set up correctly .

1. In My Computer, click the Tools menu -> Folder Options.
2. On the View tab, make sure to check the option "Hide extensions for known file types".
3. Click OK.
4. Click the Start menu -> Run. Type: " %windir%\inf " (Without quotation
marks) in the Open field. Click OK.
5. Locate and select the file " sr.inf ". Right-click it and then click Install.

I haven't done it yet but...

What would happen let's say everything was working fine and I did right-click on the "sr.inf" file and chose "install". What would happen?

Can you tell me before I do it? Will it mess anything up like my programs?

No, it won't cause any harm if indeed the file is registered already.

Carey,

Problem Fixed!!!

After I reinstalled XP, I didn't load SP1 or the rollup and other patches for XP.
