Entire Network ?

I have run (many times) the Network Setup Wizard on each of an XP Pro and an
XP Home computer. I just use the default name <MSHOME>.
However - when I then go to My Network Places | Entire Network | Microsoft
Windows Network and click the system take about 30 seconds to find the
MSHOME network. Then - if I click on MSHOME the systems search for about 45
seconds and then errors out with "Mshome not accessible. You might not have
permission . . ."

Can anyone offer any ideas?

Replied in "basics" - please crosspost instead of multi-posting.
Thank you.

You have to setup identical user accounts and passwords on both machines(or
the machine thats has shares if only one does). So if you want both
computers to access shares on the other computer then add user accounts to
the machines so that both computers have indentical accounts setup on them,
then try accessing them again. This will give that user permission to access
the other computer.

The xp home computer has one user (our daughter's first name). The xp pro
computer has one user (my first name)

Are you suggesting I need to add each to the other?

Thanks for your effort!

Yes. That way when you try to log into the other computer xp says: who's
trying to get in? Oh it's you. I know you're ok because your setup on this
machine and have the correct permissions, come on in.

Thanks Phil - I followed the suggestions and the problem still remains.

Folders share ok - except the build in Shared Documents folder. Printers
share ok - if set up through Add Printer.

I ran the Network Setup Wizard again, naming the new network HOME.
The original issue remains.

There HAS to be a reason/cure for this because until just a few days ago all
worked just fine!

Thanks for your help.

Did you setup your drive and/or folders to be shared out? Once you setup the
users you have to setup your shares. Also make sure you have the xp firewall
turned off or have your firewall setup to allow file and printer sharing.

Without seeing the computer in front of me to see what you've setup its hard
to say. Maybe try removing the whole network, reboot all the machines, then
start over with user, network wizard, shares, etc...
