Emails taking a long time to come from server to Outlook

Emails are coming to my server and host just fine. The problem is, they're
not coming to my Outlook without problems. My "Outlook Send/Receive" window
stays up for a very long time. And, at the bottom of my Outlook, it says
receiving message 1 of 79 (2.08K of 5.9 KB).

What version of Outlook? What version of Exchange? How are you
connected to them? (LAN? WAN? VPN? RPC over HTTP?)

Ben,

It's Outlook 2007. I don't know what exchange is. My web host is
speakeasy.net. I believe I'm connected via LAN.

Ah, you're using POP3 I assume. You connection would be via DSL or Cable
Modem I assume. Can you log into your mailbox via a web interface?

Do you ever receive those messages? Do they eventually come in just
take a long time?

Yes, POP3 via a T1 line. Yes, I can log into my mailbox via a web interface,
speakeasy.net. The emails are going there fine, just not making it to my
Outlook inbox in a reasonable time. They used to come in slowly, now they
don't appear to be coming in at all.
