I have sbc yahoo dsl. just got it. I have intermittent
sending and receiving errors. Sbc says Outlook maybe the
problem. Has anyone had this problem with Outlook.

According to most reports and my dealing with them, SBC has very little idea
what they are doing. Outlook could not cause intermittent errors, it either
works or it does not. Tell SBC to do a loopback test on your line with and
without your modem. Or try to get them to change the routing circuit. Most
likely you have noise on your line that is messing up the DSL signal.
One thing, you do not have any of the filters or surge suppressors plugged
into your DSL line that goes to your modem do you ? These are fine to use on
the phone connection, but not on the cable the DSL is on.
Hope that helps and good luck..

What version of Outlook do you have? What is the error message that you're
getting?

Jeff,
I have not heard back from this person, but have seen almost the same post
on SBC DSL using Outlook 2002 and 2003. The two error messages are 523 and
525 which my guess is a SBC message.

What is the complete text of the message? I don't recognize those error
numbers - they're not defined in the Internet standards to my knowledge.

FOr some SMTP transports, 523 is "Blocked by CBL SPAM Filter" and 525 is
"Blocked by ORDB SPAM Filter"

It would be really nice if folks followed the standards rather than just
inventing their own error codes. The error code 550 exists for mail
rejected because of policy; all inventing new error codes is going to do is
confuse other software that actually follows the standards.
