email move/sort after email account name change

I have a few different email accounts that were moved from a couple different
machine to one. When adding the accounts I didn't give them all the proper
name/description and have since gone back and changed the names by clicking
"more settings" and then placing a more descriptive name in the mail box name
un mail accounts.

Now I have the old accounts and email along with the changed names and any
email I have received since the name change in my inbox. Is there any way to
move the older emails into the new account?

You don't move mail into an "account". An account is a description of how
and when Outlook is to connect to a mail server and what it is to do when it
connects. It does not contain mail. Folders contain mail. Folders and
mail accounts are not the same thing.

Describe in more detail (including your Outlook version and account types)
what you have and what you want. Describe exactly what you changed.

Three POP3 mail accounts for the same user accessed thought Outlook. We'll
call them A1, A2 and A3. The name/description for A1 was defaulted to the
mail server - something like mail.server.net. The name was later changed to
make it easier for the user - say it was changed to Main Email Account. The
same was done for the other two accounts, A2 and A3.

The user views their inbox organized by email account. Now since the orginal
3 accounts have since had their name/desciption changed the inbox now
displays 6 account headings, ie old names - mail.server.net,
mail.server2.net, mail.server3.net and the new names Main Email Account,
Second Email Account and Third Email Account.

What I am asking is how to move the email from those showing up under the
old names and moving them to the new/changed names and ultimately reducing
the accounts showing up in the sorted Inbox to just the 3 accounts.

Does that help explain?
Thanks,
Dylan

How is the Inbox organized this way? By Category? By subfolders? What? I
can't see your screen. You must be explicit in describing how it looks and
how you do the organizing. Posting a screen shot wouldn't be a bad idea.

OK, email inbox is arranged by date and email account. A screen shot can be

As you can see there is the account mail.rompattheranch.com. That one was
renamed to Ranch - Amy. They both now exist in the sorted/aranged inbox.

How to I get rid of mail.rompattheranch.com and move the emails listed under
that account into the account Ranch - Amy since there are actually the same
email account?

What happens if you drag the one message from the mail.rompattheranch.com
category into the "Ranch - Amy" catagory?

I can't drag the messges within the inbox. All I can do is drag them into
other folders like drafts or deleted items. I've even tried dragging them out
of another folder back into the inbox under the Ranch - Amy grouping and it
places the message back under mail.rompattheranch.com.

Arghhhh.

I can find no way to alter the received account. for a message.
