I would like to have an email sent when a new post is entered in my FP
Discussion Forum, the one made with FP 2003 wizard. Just as this form I am
writing this is does when "Notify me of replies" is checked.Does anyone have
an idea how to do this?

Thanks, Dick

I'm not sure what form you're talking about, since I use Outlook Express to
post to these newsgroups, not the web interface.

The FP discussion has no such feature to notify users of replies because
normally it doesn't require users to sign up to post to it.

You'll need to set up a more comprehenisve discussion forum that what FP
offers to do what you want.

There are plenty on the net (such as www.phpbb.com), you'll have to install
a script in the language that your host supports - your host may even offer
such a script as part of your hosting package.

I would rather use phpbb, but I can't find a simple way to make it more
resistant to spamers. I was hopeing there might be a way to add to or modify
FP Discussion to do some of the same things PHPBB can do. Guess not.
thanks

Hi Dick:
Check out this thread on Google Groups:

http://groups.google.com/group/micr...ntpage+discussion+send+email#1af856cfa4331cea

If that link doesn't work for you, the gist of the post by Stefan Rusynko
is:

If you are just working with a FP Discussion subweb you can modify the FP DW
Post page Webbot to email you whenever a post is made to the DW by adding in
HTML view to the Discussion Webbot (just before s-toc-fields):

S-Email-Address="(e-mail address removed)" S-Email-Format="TEXT/PRE"
b-email-replyto-from-field="TRUE" s-email-replyto="Email"
b-email-subject-from-field="TRUE" s-email-subject="Subject"

Note: only the 1st line is needed if you do not have a "Email" and "Subject"
field in the Post Form

Thank you Kathleen, that was realy helpful. I added the code and sent myself
an email after a test post. Now, how do I add a "Email" and "Subject" field
in the Post Form to work with this?

While I have your attention, when I set up this DF I checked that it should
be limited to registered users only, but I can't find anywhere to register a
viewer. What am I missing? Sorry, I am awfully dense about much of this.

Thanks again, Dick
