Hi,

My laptop running XP keeps forcing an election because it believes it is the
master browser. The error is below. I have fixed this once before but can't
remember what I did. Please help!!!

Description:
The master browser has received a server announcement from the computer
Laptop_1122 that believes that it is the master browser for the domain on
transport NetBT_Tcpip_{CD5CDF64-A746-46. The master browser is stopping or an
election is being forced.

For the Windows NT'ish machines

HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Browser\Parameters

Set all but the pc designated as browse master to

MaintainServerList = "Auto"
IsDomainMaster = "False"

On the win9x machines, Control Panel|Network, then on the "Protocols" tab
scroll down to "File and Printer sharing for Microsoft Networks, then
"Properties", then for the "Browse Master" property, choose "Disabled"

and you'll have no more elections.
