Editing/Viewing HTML Source does not work for any web site

In IE6 I now have a problem which did not exist a few
months ago, where I cannot view the source of any web
page, even must own files on my hard drive. I try right
hand mouse click, view source, I've tried the menu View -
Source, and even the smart icon on the browser doesn't
work, it seems greyed out.

Any thoughts? I'm absolutely stuck. I've made sure Notepad
is the default in IE's settings for editing html. Notepad
is fine normally, I can open it and use it fine.
