Editing PowerPoint html in FrontPage 2003

I saved a PowerPoint 2003 file as html web. When I try to edit any of the
slidex.htm files, where x is the number, I get a blank screen if white
background or black if colored background in Design. If I preview it in the
browser or in FrontPage's Preview everything shows. If I open the same htm
file in FrontPage 2002, I can see everything in Design. Has anyone seen
this? I have tried this on 3 different computers and get same results.

You should edit the files in PowerPoint then re-save them as web pages and
re-import them into your web to be sure the changes are made correctly.

So there is no way in FrontPage 2003 to edit the html slide pages like you
could in 2002? I am only asking as someone asked me how to do this, that
they had no problems doing it in 2002 before they upgraded.

the 'easiest way' is as described - make the changes in Powerpoint and export
the changes to html and reimport them to FP 2003.

You can edit in FP2003, but only in Code View.
FP2003 Design view obeys the directives (such as <![if ppt]> ) embedded
in the HTML, whereas previous versions of FP do not. These directives hide
areas of the slide.

However, you also need to edit the v3-slidex.htm, and possibly the
slidex.wmz files as well - PPT 2003 produces 2 or 3 different versions of
the slide.

Thanks Ron, your answer is what I was looking for. Answering the question
stating to just edit them in PowerPoint because it is easier is not what I
was looking. I work at a Help Desk and for me to just tell someone that is
not what they want to hear. They want to know why they can't not that they
just can't. Thanks again.

The why is because PPT generates proprietary html and file links using xml that are best left to PPT to manage
Additionally if you correctly import the PPT saved as html per
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;823430
FP2003 will hide the thicket files associated w/ the PPT as they were not intended to be individually edited
