Thank you, John. As was the case with this reference, I did render it to
DV-AVI, but the popping was in the original edit timeline. I also rendered
in the other AVI and got the same result. Each was identical to the edit
timeline playback. I'll try other renderings, but I don't think that's it.

I also work in Corel VideoStudio, so I think I'll re-edit the short piece on
that platform and see if it makes a difference. (I'm working with WMM as a
convenient platform for a video class I'm teaching this summer.) Maybe the
short cuts have something to do with it.
