Echo

I have been speaking with my fiance overseas for 2 weeks now using audio through Windows Messenger. Somehow from last night to tonight, something happened. Now, when I speak, I can hear my voice echo and come back through my speakers. We have tried everything! What happened?

Both of you run back through the Audio/Video Tuning Wizard and be sure
"I Use Headphones" is not checked. Unless of course you actually are
using headphones....

We've gone through all of that. :( The only thing that has changed is that I installed a webcam, but we have found that to interfere with anything. We have been through the Audio/Video tuning at least half a dozen times...any ideas? HELP! I can't stand hearing my own voice delayed back to me!

There can be two causes. 1. The other party has their mic too close to
their spakers and this is feeding back to you. 2. You have the Sound system
misconfigured. How to correct if that is the case: 1. Double click the
little speaker (sound system) icon in your system tray. 2. Select
Options/Properties 3. Make sure the Microphone is NOT checked in the
Playback mode, and is checked in the Recording mode.
