E-mails stuck in out box

my e-mail address is road runner/time warner and I am working remotely
through a wireless connection on sbc global. someone has told me that the
two do not communicate that I will always have to go to the web mail site to
send e-mails. do you know if this is correct.

You have to be connected to the Roadrunner network in order to send email
thru their server.
Your options are:
1. Use Roadrunner's webmail to send.
2. Use SBCGlobal's SMTP server to send, if you have an account with them.
3. Get a Gmail email account, and use their SMTP server to send.

With 2 & 3, you can continue to receive email from Roadrunner, while sending
thru the other server. This is trickier to set up, as you have to enter the
corresponding usernames/passwords for the incoming & outgoing servers.

You have Roadrunner to blame for not providing an SMTP port other than 25.
Most of the other big ISPs provide alternate ports for travelers.
