DVD wont recognise movie

I have newPC with WIN XP Home so still learning.My procedure is -import
video frm DV camera [tape]into Movie Maker -make and save movie to folder
then import to Sonic ,using DV/AVI which seems to create a DVD but my DVD
player will not recognise the disc -message ="unknown disc"!
Also DV/AVI need more space.

As Graham said your message is confusing but it sounds to me like you
imported the DV-AVI into Sonic and burned that file as a data file to your
DVD. This procedure will not work as you found out because the DVD player
doesn't recognize a DV-AVI file as playable. You need to create a DVD using
Sonic instead of creating a data disk. What version of Sonic MyDVD are you
using?
