DVD won't read but CD's will.

All of the sudden my Dvd's stopped playing no matter what program I use
(media player, power dvd, or the real player) yet my Cd's still read and play
properly on all these programs. How can I fix this problem the troubleshooter
is not helping me. I have a sony vaio personal desktop pc.

Can you see the file structure of a DVD in Explorer?

If you can, then the drive is OK, it's your DVD player
software that's hosed.

If you can't, the DVD laser pickup may be out, combo drives
use two seperate lasers, one for CD, one for DVD.

You can try one of the "drive cleaner" things available
at Best, Buy, etc.
