DVD-RW does not burn

G

Guest

I have a VOM-12E48X DVD burner and recently, I had to nuke my system and
reinstall everything. I have xp sp2 with full updates. The problem I have
now, is that it reads but refuses to write. I have swapped burners with a
friend but his does the same and mine workes perfectly on his system. I can
play stuff in
them, but when I put a disk in to burn, it comes up with a lense over
calibration error. I
have roxio easy cd/dvd creator presently but i have tried nero 6,superdvd
creater. It does not even burn through windows. Is there
something I can do, to make it work again?

Hopeful

Look through the above link for clues or what may fit your situation..
May just need to use a cd cleaning disk..?

Also, having Nero and Roxio software installed could be the problem, they
don't get along together very well, pick one to use and remove the other..
The above combination may have left both app's driver remains in the U&L
filters..?

Make sure the burning app you decide to use has the latest update, from the
OEM's web site or if it was included with your computer, check your
computers OEM web site for updates.. May need to update the drives firmware
as the last resort, your call..

This will clear the upper & lower filters too..
May be a bit easier to use, than manually editing the registry..
You will need to reinstall your burning app, after you clear the filters..

The easiest way to check without going into the registry, would be to go to
Device Manager, open DVD/CD-ROM drives, right click one of your optical
drives, select properties from the menu, Details tab, you should see "Device
Instance Id" and a drop down arrow (v), click it, move the mouse pointer
down the list to highlight Device Upper filters and click it, do the same
for the Device Lower filters, Class Upper & Lower filters as well to see and
take note of their contents.. Also, there should be just 4 MS signed drivers
in the Drivers tab, driver details button, driver files details window, may
want to check, your call..

MS signed drivers: cdrom.sys, imapi.sys, redbook.sys, storprop.dll

See any other drivers in the filters..?

May also apply..
Hope it can help..
Cheers
