dvd-rom region

Hello

Most DVDs are encoded for play in specific regions. To play a regionalized
DVD I have to set my drive to play discs by selecting a geographic area from
the list provided by the drive.

I think the maximum number of times allowed to start with to change the
region is 6. The changes remaining that I have is quite few. How can I
restore it to full allownace of 6? Thank you.

That setting is in the drive's firmware. The only think you can do - legally - is buy a new DVD drive.

If you buy a lot of DVDs from different regions (as I do), it's worth
investing in a second drive. I keep my DVD burner in Region 2 (where I am)
and my other unit, a plain-vanilla DVD drive, in Region 1 (because I buy a
lot of stuff from Amazon in the US).

Head over to www.rpc1.org for more details on DVD regions and regions settings.

BTW: You have 5 "software" changes for most DVD drives and 4 additional reset
changes that can be done by drive's manufacturer.
