DVD-RAM disks

I have a question about the reading and burning DVD-RAM disks. What I want
to know is do I need a special drive for my computer or just a driver that
will let my computer read a DVD-Ram disk that was written using a VCR-DVD
Recorder from my TV equipment. I have made a project from my TV’s VCR/DVD
recorder and now I find my computer cannot read it. I wanted to make copies
to give to the family, but I did not want to copy the disk back to VCR then
burn it back to DVD. I was afraid I would loose quality.

There is no "quality" difference between DVD-R and DVD-RAM - unless you are
referring to the several copying tasks involved.

DVD-RAM is not supported much and requires a specific drive - drives capable
to read and write usually state so under listed specifications The primary
advantage was it's ability to use a DVD-RAM disc as an external hard drive.

The reason I need to read a DVD ram disk is becasue I made a family project
on my VCR/DVD Recorder. I used a DVD-Ram disk becasue it let me edit the
video and remove thing I did not want. Now I want to make copies to give to
family members and now I find I cannot read the disk in my computer to make
copies. I contacted Panasonic (they made the VCR/DVD recorder) they say I
just need a driver to read it on my computer, but I cannot find any info as
to where to get one.
I take it from what you are saying is that I need a DVD drive that says it
supports writting DVD-Ram disk. I have been looking and have seen drives say
they support DVD-Ram disks. So do I just need a new drive that will read a
DVD-Ram disk or a driver?

XP has the native ability to read/write to DVD-RAM disks but the computer
needs to have a DVD drive that supports DVD-RAM. This will need to be the
case for each person's computer to whom you give a DVD-RAM disk. That's an
expensive way to do things.
