DVD Player won't play commercialy avalable movies!

I think my problem is a codec problem but not sure....my computer used to
play movies...but when i got it back from repair shop it no longer will play
my movies!
any help finding were to get download of decoder might be helpful....this
thing is driving me nuts!

Need more info.....
but with my MDP-130s (one in an XP home unit, another in a PIII W2kP
unit) I use DVD43
Other suggestions: AnyDVD $$$
or PowerDVD ...shareware
or a failing drive like I once had.
