DVD Maker stops working

When I click next after I add video files to the list and get to the part
where I choose the menu style etc, DVD maker stops working and it checks for
a solution. And then it just says that DVD Maker stopped working and that it
would notify me if there is solution. Can anybody help???

I have the same problem and posted the question a week ago and no response.
You may want to indicate what type of files you are trying to burn (are they
avi files or something else) in case that matters. Seems like this shouldn't
happen. Also, if you are inside the tech support timeframe, contact them for
help (and if you get an answer please let me know what it is).

Have you sent that in? Does the Problem Reports and Solutions center have a
bucket ID for that fault? I don't see that crash data.

According to WMP's Help:About:Technical Support Information, what MPEG
codecs are on the system?

That's a very specific indication that you have the Ligos MPEG Splitter
installed and it's blowing up. Do they have an update available for this
component? If not, you should likely either uninstall the software that
installed, uninstall the Ligos MPEG support, deregister the file, and/or
rename or delete the file. Any of those options should stop that from
crashing DVDMaker. =)

OK, after further research-- to my understanding this component isn't
supported by Ligos on Vista, so it shouldn't be there. It would be very
interesting to know how it's getting installed. Presumably this is being
done by a bad codec pack.

I've worked with David to clarify the crash responses here, so people who
*do* erroneously have lmpgspl.ax on Vista should now be getting more helpful
responses back. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

I have the same problem trying to use dvd maker with avi files. It just
crashes and I get no comment on why. My bucket id is 587790189. I can use dvd
maker with wm files but that only plays on my computer and not on any of my
dvd's. Please help.

zachd [MSFT]

Crashes are usually different, if you don't have the file lmpgspl.ax on your
system then it's not actually the same issue. =)

WMV files should be easier to work with - are you burning a data DVD by
chance? Because once it's on a DVD, it's just MPEG2 and should work fine on
a DVD player.

What video card do you have? Is there a driver update available?

Wow those are alot of questions and I am not that computer literate to answer
them, so I posted a new question for myself. Maybe you can help me there.
Please.
