DVD drives not recognised

I have just created a dual boot with XP and vista premium 64 bit on my pc:
P5w PH deluxe motherboard, samsung TS-H552 ATA master dvd and pioneer ATAPI
Dh-16D1p as DVD slave. Eveything works fine under XP but under vista my Dvd
drives are recognised but on inserting a disk after several miutes i get the
message 'Windows cannot acces the disc. The disc might be corrupted ....'. I
have set the jumpers to master and slave and the drivers are up to date. I
also have an external dvd drive which I have connected via usb and that works
fine.

Has anyone any clues as to why I have problems under vista?

After looking into this further I have applied the fixes in the above 2
atricles, one removing the lower and upper reg sdettings and the other
changing the audio setting. Neither the pioneer or samsung drives will play a
dvd anything under vista. Boot up under XP and both drives work fines. Any
one any more ideas.
