DVD drive

My DVD Drive doesn't recognise any DVD's. It recognises Game CD's as I have
loaded The Sims 2 onto my pc. Can anyone help me, as the probable causes
that Microsoft give are completely wrong, it is enabled. My PC is only 1 week
old! So everything should work...

Thanks,

Hi,

Yep, it should work, but it doesn't. So there are two possible causes I can
think of:

a) The DVD lens is clogged with dust, and can be cleaned with a lens cleaner
disk.

b) The drive has experienced a hardware failure and needs to be replaced
under warranty.

First thing to try is Windows Explorer. As you can load
game CD's, you should be able to see their contents.
Now put in other disks, can you see their contents?
You may need to close and reopen Explorer between
disks, view refresh may not be reliable if there is a problem.
